DHIKR Mailing List

Daily Hadith Islamic Knowledge Reminder (DHIKR)
A few weeks ago, I attended a khutbah in which a young khateeb told an elder audience very respectfully, “I’m not telling you anything new, you already know this information, but we are human beings and we forget, and we all need reminders, so I’m only reminding.”

When I was in college, I built a strong familiarity with the hadeeth of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallim by reading one hadeeth each day, sent out by a mailing list group. I’ve since lost that account, but the benefit of disciplining myself to read that hadeeth each day was of tremendous benefit.

There is now a new mailing list being started known as the DHIKR list – Daily Hadeeth Islamic Knowledge Reminder list. The focus of this list will be on sending one hadeeth each day from Imam an-Nawawi’s Riyaad as-Saaliheen (Gardens of the Righteous), insha’Allah, which is a collection of hadeeth from other hadeeth collections. This book is meant for the layperson to read and benefit themselves.

We often want to go through hadeeth books cover-to-cover, but cannot due to constraints of time. With a small yet consistent effort each day, I have no doubt that insha’Allah we can all learn and benefit greatly by participating in this list.
